The Deadly Awards

As broadcast on SBS TV

The Deadlys are an annual celebration of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander achievement in music, sport, entertainment and community. Vibe Australia hosts the awards. They have been held since 1995. SBS Television has been broadcasting the Awards over the last three years, produced by Karla Grant, host of the Indigenous current affairs program Living Black.

Beginning in the Boomalli Artist Co-op in Redfern, the event has always been held in Sydney with subsequent venues included The Metro Theatre, the Hard Rock Café, Home Nightclub in Darling Harbour and Fox Studios.

In 2005 Imparja Television screened the 11th annual Deadly Awards from the Concert Hall of the Sydney Opera House on September 22, 2005. The 2007 awards were held at the Sydney Opera House on September 27 and broadcast on SBS television. (Credit: Wikipedia).
