Nation: Bodog Licensed in North America through
Morris Mohawk
On
August 22, 2007 Alwyn Morris and I shake on a
deal that will seal Bodog's international expansion
Over
the past several months Bodog Entertainment has
been working closely with the Morris
Mohawk Gaming Group on a new licensing agreement.
To make a long story short, the details of this
uniquely Canadian partnership include the use
of all Bodog domains and the Bodog trademark for
operations and marketing in North America. Are
we confident that this union fits our business
model and plans for international expansion? Absolutely.
Am I thrilled to be working with an organization
that is steeped in culture? Hell yeah.
I like
the man. Alwyn has got more drive, determination,
heart and passion than any one person I’ve
ever met and he’s a true Canadian hero in
every sense of the word. (Canada is, after all,
a Mohawk word.) Now that could also have something
to do with Alwyn’s Mohawk ancestry or his
work with youth in the Health and Welfare Canada
Native Drug Abuse Programme… or maybe it
has something to do with his being made a member
of the Order of Canada (the country’s highest
civilian honor) in 1985. Alwyn's gold medal success
in kayaking at the 1984 Olympics in Los Angeles
is also impressive. (I’ve always wanted
one of those things. A gold medal, that is…
oh, and a kayak.) Indeed, the Mohawks are an ancient
people with a vibrant culture and rich history
and Alwyn Morris has done much over the years
to respect and honor his heritage, including the
creation of one of the country’s most established
gaming groups.
With
this new licensing deal I’m confident Morris
Mohawk will be able to give our North American
customers the quality experience they have come
to expect from Bodog.
